At The Skills Consortium, our curriculum is crafted by a team of experts from across the education and training sector including experienced teachers, coaches, and trainers who have worked first-hand in the classroom and beyond. With a strong focus on achieving outstanding outcomes, our team designs curricula that are not only aligned to awarding body and apprenticeship standards but are also practical, engaging, and built for inspection readiness.

We take a spiral curriculum approach, ensuring key concepts are revisited and built upon over time to deepen understanding. All materials are written using a scaffolded structure, supporting learners at all levels to gradually develop independence, confidence, and mastery.

  • Visually engaging and aligned to each milestone, our PowerPoints are structured to support effective teaching and learning sessions, with clear objectives and consistent formatting. Each presentation is embedded with British Values, safeguarding, radicalisation awareness (Prevent Duty), functional skills, and built-in stretch and challenge tasks. Our PowerPoints also reflect our use of the spiral curriculum and scaffolding approaches, ensuring learning is layered, accessible, and reinforced throughout the learner journey.

  • Each session comes with comprehensive notes that include learning outcomes, key terminology, prompts, suggested timings, and clear guidance on how to introduce, explain, and consolidate each topic. This supports tutors in delivering consistent, high-quality sessions and helps to build delivery standards across teams, ensuring a standardised approach to teaching that aligns with curriculum intent and inspection expectations.

  • Assessment briefs are written to meet awarding body and apprenticeship requirements, with clear instructions, success criteria, and embedded opportunities for learners to demonstrate relevant knowledge, skills, and behaviours. Each assignment is designed to prepare learners for their End-Point Assessment (EPA) and includes tasks that support mock EPA preparation. Assignments are also carefully structured to stretch and challenge learners aiming for a Distinction, encouraging deeper thinking, reflective practice, and confident application of learning.

  • Designed to push more confident learners further, these optional tasks provide additional depth, promote critical thinking, and help tutors meet the needs of mixed-ability groups. Our curriculum is ambitious by design, with carefully planned opportunities to stretch learners with high potential, supporting them to achieve well and exceed expectations including those aiming for Distinction-level outcomes.

  • Our materials include check-in points, knowledge checks, and reflective prompts throughout each session to support assessment for learning and help learners monitor their own progress. Each milestone begins with a knowledge check reviewing the previous session and ends with a consolidation knowledge check to measure the impact of learning and distance travelled. This structure ensures that progress is tracked meaningfully and that learners can clearly see how their understanding is developing over time.

  • Personal development is woven throughout our curriculum, with naturally integrated activities and discussions that support learners in building confidence, self-awareness, resilience, and professional behaviours. These elements are designed to help learners grow not just academically, but personally supporting their overall employability, wellbeing, and readiness for progression.
